Celebrating Incredible people during Volunteers’ Week

Next week (1st to 7th June) is a week to celebrate Incredible people volunteering their time to spin the three plates and creating kind, confident and connected communities through the power of food.

Volunteers’ Week is celebrated across the UK (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland) to recognise, reward and recruit new volunteers.  Incredible people give their time for free, week in week out, to ensure our network of Incredible Edible groups create change in their communities.  From the stories we hear, there’s no doubt that people get out as much as they put into their volunteering experiences, through connecting with people in their communities, learning new skills, through to creating amazing new community spaces while all the time making new friends.

If you’re leading an Incredible Edible group, then take the opportunity Volunteers’ Week brings to give a great big thank you to your trusty group members who come along to all your work parties and do all those tasks in between which make your group so Incredible.  And if you’re looking for new volunteers, why not use this week as a way to promote the opportunities you have for people to get involved, whatever their skills, experience or background.  Or maybe you’ve been thinking about getting involved with your local Incredible Edible group?  Have a look at our map to find a group near you, and get in touch – Incredible Edible groups offer some great opportunities,  from helping with growing plants through to growing the group’s profile as a social media volunteer, green fingers are not a mandatory requirement!

And finally, if you give your time to your local Incredible Edible group, we’d love to hear your story about how volunteering makes a difference to you as well as your community – contact us so we can share your story to inspire others.
