The Community Garden will be open this weekend as part of Toddington Open Gardens. Do pop round to see us and all the fruit and vegetables we are growing! There might even be some strawberries if the sun comes out soon!
A great big Thank You to Nasar at the UK Fried Chicken for presenting the Community Garden with a cheque for £355! We were amazed to receive such a generous gift which will benefit everyone in Toddington. Thank you so much 😁😁
We will be working in the garden on Saturday from 10.30 - 12.00 if anyone would like to come and meet us. There is still a lot to do but as you can see we have planted peas, runner beans, cabbages and sprouts. We are hoping for some rain to make it easier to dig over the next section so the courgettes and pumpkins can go in. There is always lots to do so do pop along if you can!
The herb patch at the front of the Church is looking lovely at the moment. Do come and help yourself to rosemary, thyme, fennel, lovage, chives, bay and sage! There is a bigger patch round the back of the hall in the Community Garden with lots of lavender, pot marigolds and other herbs ~ too many to mention. Herbs are at their best right now so experiment with them in your cooking! 😊Photos from Toddington Community Garden's postwww.facebook.com
Some rhubarb is ready (tastes good - I’ve just cooked some). Work on clearing ‘the bank’ is going really well thanks to Chris (our new expert) and Sam (our new strong D of E volunteer). Pear tree now in. Apple and plum still waiting for space but lots of treasure (debris) still to be removed. There seems to have been a lot of metal pipes and marble in the top layer of earth which the bank was created from. Work session this Saturday morning 10.30 till 12.00, weather permitting, so come and join in. Rhubarb crumble should keep us going!Photos from Toddington Community Garden's postwww.facebook.com
