Joy McCarthy and friend did a litter pick at the Orchard Haslingden yesterday to clear the area of sharp / dangerous objects in readiness for the area to be cleared of brush and brambles. One section at a time as there is a lot to be cleared. We hope to get it ready for planting fruit bushes and insect pollinators. 4 bags collected.Photos from Incredible Edible Rossendale's post
Visited Loveclough allotments today with Stuart Hargreaves who has created a lovely spot to grow some vegetables and fruits. Situated just off the main road on main bus route from Rawtenstall to Burnley 3 miles out of Rawtenstall. X43 stops just before lane. There are 2 entrances one by the yellow barrier good for car parking and one before near some garages quicker by foot. Watch the 2 videos and if you are interested in growing this year leave a message on this site or email us on [email protected]. Stuart is quite happy to meet you and show you around.Photos from Incredible Edible Rossendale's post
You can make seed containers out of anything. Plastic tubing from water pipes cut open and sealed with tape on cut end to avoid sharp ends placed in a deep tray. Thought up by Joy McCarthy a volunteer.
MORE free plants, strawberries and parsley. All different sizes but all with a root system so should start growing soon. So come and get them !!. Dismantling of planters in progress and great news about moving the fruit trees. Green spaces has agreed to dig them up and transfer them to the Orchard in Haslingden .Photos from Incredible Edible Rossendale's post
